The Obaahemaa of the Akrokeri Traditional area, Nana Serwaa Bruwaa II has admonished Ghanaians to stop maltreating Widows and tagging them as witches as they're equally humans like any other person.

She made this admonishment at the Mama Love Foundation's women empowerment summit on Friday, July 23 at Obuasi.

Nana Bruwaa speaking to journalists said it's sad when widows are treated badly after the demise of their spouses.

"It is said that two people will marry, live a good and beautiful life, but as soon as the man dies, the widow will be treated like trash," she told.

She further called for support for widows so they can live a good life after their husbands' demise.

"Death is inevitable, it was instituted by God so it's either the man will die first or the woman, but when the man leaves first the kind of treatment meted out to their surviving partners in this country is not a good thing, I'll urge Ghanaians to support widows for whoever supports a widow will be rewarded by God," she concluded.

The Mama Love Foundation supported widows in cash and kind with the aim of helping others to establish their own businesses.

Reverend Love Konadu the founder of the association, explained that it's her vision to train young men in different skills as she's already doing for young women.

Mama Love Foundation is currently training young women in various skills and it is believed that these skills will help make them independent.

She also hinted at supporting brilliant but needy students to further their education out of Ghana.
