The Bono Regional Capital Sunyani, between Saturday and Sunday, recorded two fire outbreaks with lots of properties succumbing to the outbreak.

The fire which occurred at the dawn of Saturday at the Sunyani Local Timber Market saw about twenty-four (24) shops located in the area burnt to ashes.

On Saturday, 27th March 2020 residents at area 2, an area within the Sunyani Municipality where the Timber Market is located woke up to witness the tragedy which claimed the properties of the workforce.

Upon arriving at the scene Soiree News spoke with some of the victims who attributed the cause of the fire to the power fluctuation.

According to them, it premature for them to be able to assess the amount involved in their loss but blamed the situation on the Electricity Company for the power fluctuation on Saturday night.

Speaking to Soiree News, the Municipal Fire Commander DO3 Agyemang Duah said his outfit is yet to ascertain the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, the same incident happened on Sunday at Sunyani Asufu where a 13-bedroom house burnt to ashes. Giving details of the outbreak, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service, Kwame Adomako said his outfit is yet to ascertain the course of the disaster but was quick to add that, the disaster could have been prevented if the Fire Service was called on time.

He disputed the claims that firefighters did not arrive at the scene on time. According to him, the firefighters got to the scene as soon as they received the call hence blaming occupants of the house for failing to call the service on time due to their decision to pack their belongings rather than saving the entire house.

Assistant Station Officer Kwame Adomako however assured his outfit is working vigorously to review the cause of the outbreak.

He called on all to be cautious when dealing with fire.
