'We're committed to getting to bottom of Trump allegations'

We've heard from US representative Carolyn Maloney, the head of the House Oversight Committee, in the last few hours. She launched an investigation into how Trump handled sensitive documents.

According to US media, she declared: "Presidents have a solemn duty to preserve America's national security.

Allegations that former President Trump placed our security in danger by mishandling classified material merit the highest examination."

She declared that she was "determined to learn the truth about President Trump's possibly serious wrongdoing and enact crucial changes to stop these abuses going forward and safeguard our national security."
