25-year-old galamsey boy killed by hit-and-run driver at Woromso

A 25-year-old Galamsey boy has allegedly been killed by a hit-and-run driver at MTC, a farming Community Near Woromso in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo Region.

Eyewitnesses told Soireenews Sulley Dramani that the unfortunate incident occurred when the deceased, Akwasi Joe was crashed on the Goaso-Hwidiem highway around 8:00 pm on Monday, June 14.

Assemblyman for the Area Honourable Ernest Karim said the family of the deceased is yet to report the incident to the police, but the security service was at the scene on Monday.

Residents who witnessed the incident could not identify the driver.

The body of Akwasi Joe has since been deposited at saint Elizeberth Hospital at Hwidiem for preservation.

When Soireenews Sulley Dramani, visited the scene, there was an indication that the accident had happened not too long ago as there were fresh bloodstains on the road where the incident occurred.

Also, some people had gathered not too far away from the scene, still talking about it.

The portion of the road had been marked by the Police as part of their preliminary investigations. Meanwhile, the police are yet to comment on the incident.
