Some National Democratic Congress (NDC) angry members and supporters in Akwatia Constituency of the Eastern Region have implored the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) to announce the date to hold the elections of the various constituencies which parliamentary candidate primaries were put on hold due to some electoral challenges.

Speaking in an interview with Soireenews. com, majority of the supporters and members in the area expressed their displeasure about the delay of their parliamentary candidate primaries.
According to them, the Akwatia NDC youths are still knocking the door of the parliamentary candidate elections because they noticed that 
after current meeting the FEC no date was decided to hold the primaries and the patience of the supporters of the party was running out.
They pointed out that out of 33 constituencies in the Eastern Region, 28 had their primaries leaving 5 constituencies to their fate. These constituencies were Afram Plains South, 
Akwatia, Lower West Akim,Abuakwa North
and Ayensuano.
Akwatia Constituency NDC Youths are still knocking the door of the parliamentary primaries Elections and it seems any thing positive has come out  from the National Executives and the Regional Executives from all this while. 
We are not ready and willing to go for Election to retain the seat 2024. But we should remind ourselves that, without primaries no seat can be maintained and nobody can decide for we the youths in Akwatia Constituency. We always try to make sure the seat will be maintained but there is no response. 
"We the youths of the party cannot wait any more for the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) to refuse to announce the date to hold the elections of the various constituencies and our decisions on the matter would be taken soon," the angry youths told Soireenews.com.
 
According to them, the political activities in these constituencies have been brought to a halt following inability of the leadership to conduct election in the said areas. 
They pointed out that many of the youths who can't accommodate the situation are boiling to explode to make sure the needful is done. 
They stated that the principles of internal democracy seem to have been trampled upon gleefully. This has a dire consequences on the fortunes of the party come 2024.
The youth of Akwatia constituency are poised to hit the street to vent their frustrations to the leadership through the regional executive committee(REC). 
They indicated that the heat in Akwatia shall soon be communicated to the world on how the current MP, Okoyo is manoeuvring his way to avoid being contested. 
Against this background, the youths are calling for an election to determine who leads them again in a fair, free and transparent way. 
The youths in this constituency heavily bought into the dream of JM," Building Ghana we want," adding that the Akwatia needs change to retain the seat.
