American singer and rapper Rod Wave has been taken into custody on charges of firearm possession, as indicated by arrest records from Manatee County, Florida, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Following the arrest, the St. Petersburg Police Department held a press conference, alleging Rod Wave's involvement in a gang-related shooting incident in Florida.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, March 31 outside Sonic Sports Bar in St. Petersburg, resulted in injuries to four bystanders.

St. Petersburg Police Chief Mike Kovacsev stated that three of the individuals apprehended in connection to the shooting—Christopher Atkins, Keith Westby, and Kevontre Wesby—are allegedly associated with the Young Gangsters gang, with additional arrests pending.

Rod Wave's legal representatives, Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin, have vehemently refuted the allegations, asserting that the rapper was "arrested and detained with absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing."

In an Instagram statement, the attorneys emphasized that Rod Wave was not in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest
