A 13 -member Board of Governors for W.B.M Zion Senior High School of Akyem Tafo, in Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana has been inaugurated.

The Members of the new Board include; Mrs Margaret Nsiah Ofori (Regional Director of Education), Bartholomew Ofori (Director General of GES), Ms Abena Gyamera (Abuakwa North Municipal Director of Education), Prof. Emmanuel Adinyira (AME Church Representative), Mr Richard Anarfi (Headmaster), Mr Joseph Obeng (PTA representative), Mrs Ruth Woode, Mr Roya Boateng Antwi (Abuakwa North Assembly Representative), Mr Donald Kwame Asiedu and Ms Kyerewa Philomina (Old Students Representatives).

Rev. Francis Omanpeh Siaw (Teaching staff representative), Mrs Dorcas Boateng Antwi (Non-Teaching staff representative, and Ms Getrude Ampomaa Mensah (Traditional Council Representative).

The Eastern Regional Director of Education, Margaret Nsiah- Asamoah, entrusted the board to ensure sagacious use of resources allocated to the school, to create and promote a suitable academic environment to enhance effective teaching and learning during the Inaugurating of the board.

The regional director also urged the just inaugurated board to be proactive, to frequently visit the school to know the challenges confronted in order to enable them to take swift actions to address them.

She opined, that despite the powers of the Board, certain decisions that include dismissal of students must be sanctioned by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service.

Prof Emmanuel Adinyira, Associate Professor at Department of Construction Technology and  Management at KNUST, on his part as a spokesman for the board member of the W.B.M Zion SHS, said, the high academic feat chocked by the old board will be sustained and improved through a holistic approach which encompasses discipline, quality teaching, and learning as well as infrastructural improvement.

He added, that the new board shall work diligently, to address infrastructural deficit challenges affecting the school.

Osabarima Adusei Peasah, the chief of Akyem Tafo charged the new board to be efficient.
