The presidency said on Thursday that several persons have been detained in Cameroon in connection with the murder of well-known journalist Martinez Zogo.

The names and numbers of the suspects were not made public.

According to a statement, the suspects were being questioned to ascertain the extent of their involvement in the murder that occurred two weeks ago and the identities of everyone related to it.

President Paul Biya paid "special tribute" to Mr. Zogo and offered his "heartfelt condolences" to his family for the first time since Mr. Zogo's body was discovered.

He was the manager of the independently owned Amplitude FM and the host of the well-liked radio program "Embouteillage," which is French for "traffic jam."

A wealthy businessman and high-ranking officials were allegedly involved in an embezzlement case, which he had recently discussed on the radio.
