Bayern Munich manager, Thomas Tuchel, will serve a one-match ban against Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday night, September 20, 2023.

Tuchel will serve his one-game touchline ban after he was sent off during the quarter-final second-leg clash with Manchester City in April.

Bayern were eliminated that night following a 1-1 draw on the night, losing 4-1 on aggregate.

The Bundesliga champions will begin this new campaign against United at the Allianz Arena.

It will be the first time the two sides have met in the Champions League since 2014, when they went head-to-head in the quarter-final.

On that occasion, Bayern ran out 3-1 winners – 4-2 on aggregate – to book their place in the last-four.

Tuchel was not happy with a coming together between Aymeric Laporte and Kingsley Coman and decided to lament his frustration at the referee.

The ban has carried through the summer and into Bayern's next Champions League match, which has come against the Red Devils.

However, Tuchel will be in the stands and is allowed inside the dressing room and can communicate with his staff throughout the match. He will be keen to bounce back from Friday's 2-2 draw against fellow in-form Bayer Leverkusen as Bayern's 100 percent start came to an end.
