Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has taken a new cocoa management system expected to be rolled out by COCOBOD this year, to Ahafo Region.

The 2-weeks exercise which starts today (Monday)  is expected to end on 14th November 2021.

The Cocoa Management System (digital System) is to promote transparency and inclusiveness in the production and supply of cocoa, gather information of every cocoa farmer and his or her households, farm size and location, and other, occupational data, which will be queued in a unique identification card that will be used by the farmer in all cocoa transactions.

The system will also provide every cocoa farmer with a unique electronic account of which all cocoa sales, payments and other transactions of the farmer will be made.

The National Co-ordinator of Cocoa Management System at COCOBOD, Mr Atta Boateng who made these known, to Sulley Dramani, in Goaso said the use of the technology was to help transform and improve operations in the cocoa sector.

Mr Atta Boateng said the registration to collect data on all cocoa farmers and farms had already begun in the Western South and Ashanti cocoa regions had been registered and subsequently received their cocoa cards.

He, therefore, appeal to cocoa farmers in the Ahafo Region to co-operate with COCOBOD and provide accurate information to them to enable proper planning in terms of farm input among others.
