DORMAA WEST ASSEMBLY engages stakeholders for development agenda

 The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa West, Hon. Francis Kwadwo Oppong together with the Technocrats at the Assembly embarked on a public hearing in two communities in the District,  namely,  Yaakrom and Krakrom to ascertain developmental ideas from stakeholders. This engagement is dubbed “the people’s Assembly”.

 The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa West, Hon. Francis Kwadwo Oppong together with the Technocrats at the Assembly embarked on a public hearing in two communities in the District,  namely,  Yaakrom and Krakrom to ascertain developmental ideas from stakeholders. This engagement is dubbed “the people’s Assembly”.

The people's Assembly paved the way for the inhabitants and Opinion Leaders in the aforementioned communities to put their needs in a hierarchical manner if they are to make a choice from a scale of preference before the DCE and the District  Assembly.

This was in line with the National Development  Agenda which requires  Metropolitan,  Municipal and District  Assemblies (MMDAs) in accordance with the National Development Planning Act 1994(Act 480) to prepare a four-year Medium Term Development Plans (MTDPs) to deal with some patterning challenges facing the assemblies.

This strategy is part of the government’s effort to ensure the full participation of the community folks in governance and to strengthen the local assemblies.

Engaging the stakeholders from the two communities, Yaakrom and Krakrom, the DCE, Hon. Francis Kwadwo Oppong addressed some Identified key issues in the communities that arise from, Economic and  Social Development, Environmental and Human settlement, Emergency Planning and Response.

He charged the stakeholders to ensure their full commitment to ensuring the development of the District.

He said, “ the purpose of this engagement is to find from you what the needs of the residents are so we can address them accordingly”. “The Akuffo  Addo led administration is committed to ensuring the people’s government and not the old way of imposing projects on residents that will not be beneficial to them “, he added

Hon Francis Oppong however thanked the people for the warm reception and assured them of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo's quest to Develop the Nation and the various districts, including  Dormaa West.
