Free SHS Policy  Implementation Is hurting Us Parents and guardians in Twifo Atti-Morkwa Speaks
Parents and guardians at Twifo Praso in the Twifo Attimorkwa District of the Central Region have applauded the government for the introduction of the free Senior High School (SHS) educational policy but said that its implementation is hurting them.
They said that the rate at which their children come back home and return to school for vacation and reopening is too many within the academic year.
Mr. Emmanuel Ansah who is the spokesperson for the parents indicated that parents are rather spending more money on transportation and provisions of their wards and this has made the policy a "killer" instead of being a "savior."
Mr. Emmanuel Ansah added that, before the introduction of the Free SHS policy,  students used to stay in school for about three to four months long before they vacate, but with the free SHS, students spend a few weeks in school then they vacate and soon after, schools are resumed again.
Mr. Emmanuel Ansah appealed to the government to build more classrooms and hostels or boarding facilities to be able to contain the huge student population and abolish the double-track system which the parents believe is the cause of the problem.
Some of the parents who spoke with Soireenews.com described the situation as a huge financial draining burden.
He expressed fears and worries about the spate of road accidents which is claiming more souls and leaving others with permanent disabilities and said, their children are always moving to and fro on the roads which is very worrisome to them as parents.
