Ahead of the 2024 edition of the Chocolate Day celebrations, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with able partners has held a football gala competition in Tema.

The gala competition aims to mark what was previously known as Valentine's Day now domesticated as Chocolate Day, and is a unique initiative to re-orient the Ghanaian mind in appreciating Ghana's cocoa products.

As part of the two-day event which kicked off on Tuesday, February 13th February 2024, six teams from Tema comprising Revelation FC, Origin Keep Fit Club, Tema United, and Community 11 School Complex FC competed for honors. Held on the theme, "Eat Chocolate, Stay Healthy,  Grow Ghana" with the sub-theme "Explore Ghana, Eat Chocolate" while charging Ghanaians to stay healthy with Ghanaian cocoa products.

Speaking in an interview with journalists at the Oninku School Complex Park, Madam ... intimated that the time has come for Ghanaians to pride their own.

She said gone are the days when people see sex as the means of demonstrating love.

Rather, Madam Gifty Offeibea Koranteng Senanu disabused the the earlier notion of using sex for love while recommending Ghanaian Kings bite chocolate for a loved one is a unique demonstration of love.

"Research shows that Ghana's cocoa has been the best and continues to be with medicinal values embedded in it so all one can do is to get a bite every time" he challenged. Given that, Ghanaian chocolate perfects health, Madam Senanu believes that one would have been solving health challenges while creating jobs for people within the cocoa value change.

She further added that the future of Ghana's cocoa industry promises to be upscaled if everyone endeavors to purchase at least one of the uniquely packaged Ghanaian chocolate.

She challenged Ghanaians to make a deliberate attempt by purchasing at least one to see what the potential will be for the industry.

The unique initiative was proudly sponsored by In Deefah, producers of cocoa drinks, Mayflower catering services, Meet and Eat Restaurant, and T-Havana. The rest are Ike City Hotel, Golden Melinium Hotel, J and G Retreat Centre, Lyden Guest House, and Japet.

Bob Amiteye, Coordinator, AbibiNsroma Foundation believes that with Tema being the Centre of the World coupled with the host of sponsors the campaign will be sustained.

He underscored the urgent need for Ghanaians to embrace the unique initiative to upscale cocoa production in Ghana.
