Is Akufo-Addo Free SHS Educational Policy Working In Ghana; Achimota Student Failed Because Of Owing School Fees!
A 2023 final year's student of Achimota Senior High School (SHS), a Category A or First Class Senior High School in the Greater Accra Region, Abba Benjamin Kofi, has failed his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) currently released by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Information available to Soireenews.com indicates that the result released by WAEC clearly shows that the young male student of Achimota SHS has failed because of owing school fees.
The heartbreaking situation has caused controversy in Ghana for which many concerned Ghanaians have lambasted the current Akufo-Addo/ Bawumia led New Patriotic Party (NPP) for deceiving Ghanaians that the Senior High School education is free in Ghana.
They questioned that if indeed the NPP claimed that the Senior High School education is free in Ghana why is it that the young man has failed because of owing school fees.
"SHS is not free in Ghana. Never allowed these NPP members to deceive you. Because the situation of the young man has exposed the lies of the current NPP," scored of Ghanaians interviewed by Soireenews.com stated.
The Free Senior High School education policy in Ghana was a government initiative introduced in the 2017 September Presidential administration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The policy's origination began as part of the President's presidential campaign during Ghana's 2016 election period, and has become an essential part of Ghana's educational system.
The policy's core themes of access, equity and equality fulfil the United Nations modified Sustainable Development Goals, where member countries amalgamate those themes in their educational systems to certify adequate learning experiences for students.
Respective politicians and social workers have been allocated the duty to ensure the policy's efficiency, productivity and further development.
These leaders span from varying governmental departments including Ghana's

of Finance and Economic Planning and Ghana Education Service and Ghana's Ministry of Education.
However,  Ghanaians have stated that the policy is not working in some schools since the result slip of the young man attest to the fact the students were paying school fees.
