A six-unit classroom block at Boys School, a basic school in the Sunyani East Municipality in the Bono Region has been abandoned to rot after the project was commenced some fifteen (15) years ago under the erstwhile J.A Kuffour’s administration.

The various projects in the Municipality include 6-unit classroom blocks that were started in 2007 under the former president Agyekum Kuffour’s administration which was nearing completion, had been left to rot for about 15 years now.

This was disclosed by the Sunyani Stakeholders platform, a team of concerned youth with the Sunyani catchment area who seeks to ensure proper development of the area by ensuring.

Nana Sakyi Akomea, an executive member of the group who took the media to the abandoned project said although the local council committee has followed up with the Municipal Assembly for the completion of the projects, there are no signs that construction works would re-start anytime soon, describing the situation as worrying. He said efforts by the group to get contract documents for the project to enable them to get on the neck of the contractor have proved futile as the assembly has failed to honour their request.

He explained that the completion of the projects would bring huge relief to the school as there’s enormous pressure on the few facilities that were built years ago.

He is however assuring that the Traditional Council together with its stakeholders will do everything within its power to ensure the completion of the project.
