Mr Issaka Zitor

The General public is being advised by the Savannah Regional boss of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr Issaka Zitor to cooperate with the 2021 Population and Housing Census (2021 PHC) field officers in order to generate reliable data for the country.

The Regional Director made the call on Damongo based Community Radio Station, Radio PAD 95.1MHZ Morning show, monitored by Abdul Sammed Gurundari of Soireenews.

Mr Zitor said the enumerators require public support both from Ghanaians and foreigners to enable a credible database for planning purposes at all levels and also monitoring of economic well-being of the population in Ghana.

He, therefore, urged residents of the Savannah region to embrace the 2021 Population and Housing Census by making sure that everyone is part of the processes.

The Director further explained that June 27, 2021, shall be referred to as “Census Night” thus, will be a reference point to which all enumerators must relate in order to help make the Census Night memorable.

The night will witness events organized in communities throughout the country to mark the census night.

Enumeration will start on 28th  June 2021, counting every person in Ghana will kick start till 11th July 2021.

At the moment listing of structures is currently ongoing across the country by the enumerators.

Mr Zitor said the 2021 PHC is very important for the region and that, house or structure owners must not see the exercise for tax purposes and thereby prevent enumerators from doing their work. He urged them to rather support them with the needed information.

Reliable data is necessary to aid good planning to accelerate the development of the region and the country at large.
