Lawyer Isaac Minta Larbi Speaks At Dawu State Ohum Festival

THE Dawu State Ohum Festival came to a successful end with an eventful grand durbar of Chiefs, elders and dignitaries present for the occasion.

Omanhene of Dawu State, Odeneho Asare Akyeahene III, was seated together with his Chiefs and Elders of the State for the Durbar which started around 3pm due to the threat of rains.

Citizens of the State gathered at the Durbar grounds to thank God almighty for seeing them through the eventful festivities and to seek his protection for the years ahead.

The event which was held on Sunday was used to raise fund to support the State.

In his remarks, Lawyer Isaac Minta Larbi the Chairman for the occasion stated that it was necessary to build a new palace befitting of the State of Dawu thus whatever money would be raised a portion of it should be credited towards the new palace building.

Lawyer Isaac Minta Larbi also added that education is key, as such there was the need to support the education fund in order to produce professionals who would assist in building the State of Dawu.

He emphasized that every nation or State always relied on professionals thus there was the need to produce such professionals so that the State of Dawu can rely on them whenever the need arises.

Some of the activities for this years Ohum Festival included Adekpe, Inter Community Football Games, Odo Addi (Lovers Night), Ladies Night, Dawu Strongest Competition, Health Walk, School Quiz Competition, Eba Dudu (Monday Remembrance of the Departed), amongst many programs.

The entire festival was a month long celebration which is the typical, authentic and proper Ohum Festival on the ridge.

Dignitaries at the Durbar which ended the festival included Hon. Kenneth Daniel Addo, DCE of Okere, Hon. Dan Botwe, MP for Okere, Lawyer Isaac Minta Larbi, Chairman for the occasion as well as the Chairman, Eastern Legal Team NDC, William Owiredu Kwarnor, NPP Okere Constituency Chairman, Ayuba Haruna Mohammed, NDC Okere Constituency Secretary and Prince Henry Anim Owiredu, PC for Okere NDC.

The Dawu State Ohum Festival Planning Committee has promised a mouth watering festival next year.
