Matt Doherty has tested positive for coronavirus; the Football Association of Ireland has confirmed.

The former Wolves star is on international duty with Ireland in the Nations League and featured for his side as they lost by 1-0 to Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Association also confirmed that Stoke winger, James McClean returned positive after conducting tests.

“The Football Association of Ireland can confirm Matt Doherty and James McClean have tested positive for COVID-19,” read the statement.

“The rest of the staff & squad tested negative ahead of the flight back to Dublin this morning before the match against Bulgaria on Wednesday.”
