Manchester United beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their Premier League clash, with both Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo featuring in the showdown.

Odion Ighalo got his Manchester United career off to a perfect start as he made his debut in their 2-0 away win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Monday’s Premier League.

Ighalo was introduced in the 90th minutes for Anthony Martial who gave United the lead in the first half.

The former Super Eagles striker almost capped his debut with a goal after he was played through on goal but saw his effort saved by Willy Caballero in goal for Chelsea.

It was United’s third win against Chelsea this season after beating them 4-0 in their league game and 2-1 in the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea were forced into an early change as N’Golo Kante took a knock and was replaced by Mason Mount in the 12th minute.

United broke the deadlock in the 45th minute, thanks to Martial who nodded in Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross to put the visitors ahead.

Chelsea thought they had equalised on 55 minutes through substitute Kurt Zouma who volleyed into the bottom corner, but after consulting the VAR, referee Anthony Taylor overturned the goal following a foul by Cesar Azpilicueta in the build-up.

In the 66th minute United doubled their lead as Harry Maguire headed in Bruno Fernandes’ corner.

Chelsea scored on 77 minutes through substitute Olivier Giroud who headed in a cross but once again the goal was overturned for offside by the French striker.

The win took United to seventh on 38 points and they are just two points behind Chelsea who are fourth in the league table.
