Big Brother Naija reality star Doyinsola Anuoluwapo David, popularly known as Doyin, has said that requests for DNA test shouldn’t elicit emotional responses.

Soireenews reports that Nigerians have been divided over whether DNA testing is necessary or not, given the recent cases of paternity fraud.

Reacting via her Instagram page, Doyin explained that given the high rate of paternity fraud, men are right to request for DNA testing.

She wrote: “It’s not a bad thing for your partner to request for DNA test. If he wants to take care of a child that isn’t his, let it be his decision to do that intentionally not because he thinks he’s the father.

"The rate of paternity fraud is too high for you to think emotionally if your partner asks for a DNA test. It’s a painful request but it’s understandable.”

In a related post, afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti also reacted to the DNA test controversy rocking the nation’s social media space.

Reacting via his Instagram account, Kuti asserted that demanding for DNA test is a ‘trust and power issue’.

He claimed that most of the men requesting for DNA tests wouldn’t ask for it if their partners were more financially buoyant than them.

He said, “There is no way that doing DNA test is not about trust. Doing DNA test is a trust issue 100 per cent! It’s not only a trust issue, it’s also a power issue. No man would request for a DNA test if their partners are richer than them.”
