The Ahafo Region has benefitted from President Nana Akufo Addo's 2016 campaign promise of the "Planting for Food and Jobs" programme.

Statics from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture indicates that about 165,638 farmers in the region have enjoyed for the period of two years and improved food productivity marginally.
 
The beneficiary farmers were 125,100 males and 40,538 females.

Mr Kingsford Nyame, Ahafo Regional Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), disclosing this in an interview with Soireenews Sulley Dramani said most of the beneficiary farmers were plantain, maize, rice, and vegetable production.

He asserted that the President's initiative has led to a distribution of over 4,084 bags of fertilizers, 213,128 litres of liquid fertilizers, agro-chemicals, farm inputs to beneficiary farmers to expand their farm work, while others had gone into commercial farming as a business entity.

Mr Kingsford Nyame also commended the government for the Planting of Food and Jobs flagship program in general.
