Refusal of NPP govt to provide a dumsor timetable is a sign of disrespect for Ghanaians-NDC Eastern Legal Team Chairman Jabs

THE Chairman of the Eastern Regional Legal Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Isaac Minta Larbi, has stated that the persistence refusal of the government to provide a dumsor timetable is a sign of disrespect for Ghanaians.

The young outspoken lawyer made the remark in a strong worded press statement copied to Soireenews.com

Below is the statement

THE REFUSAL TO PROVIDE A DUMSOR TIMETABLE IS A SIGN OF DISRESPECT FOR GHANAIANS.*

We all know what dumsor is and no one needs to explain to us what it means.

Our lights for months now have not been stable throughout the whole country and it has destabilized all of us regarding our regular daily activities including evenings.

The availability of electricity in our homes and offices is a right to the citizen as long as he has paid for it.

In fact since the introduction of prepaid electricity the right of the citizen has been elevated to an obligation under a contract soon as it is paid for.

It is wrong to pay for electricity ahead of time even before use only for the service provider which is ECG to fail to make it available for your use when needed.

This is a contractual wrong deserving of a remedy to the consumer which is all of us but for the fact that many don't insist on their rights in this country the government gets a free ride to misbehave towards the citizens.

It is even worse when you take state institutions to court and the courts instead of taking action against the state rather would be seen to be holding the brief of the state giving excuses here and there and telling you why it cannot hold the state responsible because we are a developing country bka bla bla when the state has not even asked the court to do so.

Over the years people have lost hope in taking action against the state leading to the mess that we are in.

Having paid for your electricity ahead of time the ECG must provide it whenever you need it without excuse. That is our right which cannot be compromised.

However, knowing that we are under an incompetent government hence the center cannot hold, we have decided as a people to accommodate the failed governance system until December elections when we the people will vote this incompetent failed government out of power to allow for better days.

That notwithstanding, it is the duty of the government together with the necessary state institutions to work together to ease the inconvenience and frustration heaped on the head of Ghanaians who's only crime is to vote for this incompetent government.

We as a people deserve a timetable to help us organize ourselves to ease the pain and suffering we are going through under a dumsor which we should not be experiencing if only we had a competent government in power.

But it is not surprising to me for the failure and refusal of the government to provide a timetable.

We shouldn't forget so soon that this same government could not even provide a proper educational calendar for our schools leading to chaos, confusion, and complete misdirection from the government.

So it is not surprising that when it comes to dumsor this same government is unable to provide a timetable to ease the pain and frustration of Ghanaians.

We all know that this government is actually the most dishonest and disrespectful government Ghana has ever had and so we are all aware that this government knows it it provides a dumsor timetable, it'll be admitting that there's dumsor which would be a serious indictment on the government who after loudmouthing to the whole world that they have the men cannot even provide a proper educational calendar for our schools.

Such embarrassment is what we know this incompetent government wants to avoid but the truth is that whether a timetable is provided for the dumsor or not Ghanaians already know there is dumsor and the failure or refusal to give us a timetable would not change anything.

However, it would have been a sign of respect for the citizens to provide a timetable especially when we the people are asking for it in order to ensure that we make the best out of the situation.

Needless to say but when we had dumsor sometime ago, our incoming President John Dramani Mahama showed a lot of respect to Ghanaians.

He made sure that a timetable was made available to the citizens so they can plan their lives.

Not only that he told Ghanaians to our face that he would fix dumsor and with the help of God he was able to do it.

Today the shameless NPP government who chastised him for bringing in the Ameri Power Plant has today gone ahead to rename the power plant officially becoming and cementing itself as the government of renaming projects it has no hand in.

Dumsor in this heat is double punishment plus petrol price increases makes it a triple slap in the face when you have not done anything wrong. We are tired and deserve urgent change.

A timetable would have eased our burden but a disrespectful government who has shown that it does care about it's citizens would surely not care about giving us a timetable.

December 7th will soon be upon us and God will speak for us.

Voting is not a crime so we would go and vote out this government that has brought so much misery to our lives.
