Report Of Stealing Relief Items In Mepe: I Am Not Even Sleeping On Mattress—North Tongu District NADMO Staff Refutes Allegation
THE STAFF of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, Madam Gloria Donutsor who was reported to have stolen a bag containing 37 pieces of brand new clothes, student mattresses and Kente clothes at the flood victims camp at Mepe St. Kizito Senior High Technical School has vehemently denied all the allegations levelled against her.

"I myself l have not even kept one of the mattresses brought to the flood victims in the safe heaven camps in Mepe. I am not even sleeping on mattress now because of where l am sleeping.l am sleeping on small mat without mattress as of today l am talking to you," Madam Gloria Donutsor confirmed in an interview with Soireenews.com.
She described the allegations as baseless, unfounded and certainly untrue, saying that her accusers including the Chairman of Mepe Flood Victims Association,Mr Amanatey Dusi and his followers made such allegations against her without substance.
Madam Gloria Donutsor has, therefore called on the general public, particularly the people in Mepe, North Tongu and Volta Region  to completely disregard Mr Dusi and his followers' accusation against her, describing them as “baseless and unmeritorious.”

She stressed that Mr Dusi and followers' accusations are nothing but a desperate attempt to scare and eliminate her for them to have their ways to engage in nefarious acts in regard to the distribution of the items.
Madam Gloria Donutsor who doubles as the
representative of NADMO at the flood victims safe havens camps in Mepe St. Kizito Senior High Technical School was reported to have stolen the clothes packed in a labelled "Ghana must go bag" and gave them out to her senior sister, Madam Helen Donutsor to be sent to her private house near the Mepe branch of Roman Catholic JHS.
Interestingly, Madam Helen Donutsor who is not one of the flood victims but reside in the camp of Mepe St. Kizito Senior High Technical School has confirmed and admitted that her junior sister, Gloria Donutsor has given out the said bag which claimed to have contained the pieces of brand clothes.

"Yes my junior sister Gloria Donutsor gave me bag labelled to be kept for her in my house at the flood victims camp at Kizito campus and later she called in the evening to bring the bag to her in her private house.

However, as the bag containing the clothes is very heavy and that in this sense l have asked the assistance from my kid to help me to carry the item to the private house of Gloria Donutsor," Madam Helen Donutsor confessed in a meeting with the Chairman of the Mepe St Kizito Safe Haven Flood Victims Association Chairman of the Association, Mr Amanatey Dusi.
Meanwhile, investigations at Mepe Kizito safe haven camp has revealed that that was not the first time Gloria Donutsor allegedly stoten the relief items from the store in Kizito campus.

Our sources at Mepe Kizito safe haven camp disclosed that a couple of days ago, Madam Gloria Donutsor has also stolen pieces of seven students mattresses donated to be distributed to the flood victims and kept them in hiding place in Kizito and that one of the victims have taken abrute force to also take away two of students mattresses which has angered her.
Madam Gloria Donutsor was also accused of stealing Kente Clothes donated by Volta River Authority, the allegations she has vehemently denied.

Bags of rice, student mattresses and other relief items were said to have gone missing from the store in Kizito campus since the corporate institutions/organizations and  individual philanthropists have started donations of items to the recent flood victims in Mepe.

The stealing of NADMO staff in Mepe has denied needy members of society basic items like mattress and other food items during this unforeseen disasters which was caused by Akosombo and Akuse dams spillage.

Madam Gloria Donutsor has taken advantage of distribution of relief items meant for the victims to steal the items, the heartbreaking development which has angered the scores of citizens in Mepe for which they have called on the traditional authorities to order for the arrest and prosecution of Gloria Donutsor to serve as deterrent to others.
However, after the video went viral, North Tongu District NADMO representative came out to explain that the bag she took away has  not contained the clothes but contained dresses of men, the development which has made many people to believe that indeed Madam Gloria Donutsor has committed the crime and she must be punished.

The stealing of the items by Gloria Donutsor
has been brought to the attention of some prominent chiefs and queen-mothers of Mepe including the the Sub-Divisional Chief of Mepe Dzagbaku  Clan, Togbe Azagba IV.

But in a quick rebuttal in an interview with
Soireenews.com to get her side of the story, Madam Gloria Donutsor stated that she knows nothing about missing of the bag containing the clothes as being claimed by her accusers.

"It is not true that l have stolen or even attempted to steal any relief items donated to be distributed to the victims, having be NADMO representative in the camp of Kizito campus l am working transparently with the relevant stakesholders to ensure equitable distributions of the items to the affected victims who are now rendered homeless in Mepe, so l would be last person to steal the items for the victims," Madam Gloria Donutsor stressed.

She explained that the bag of the items for which she asked her sister, Madam Hellen Donutsor to collect on her behalf was kept in her room that she was sleeping with other flood victims in the camp of Kizito campus in Mepe.
"After her sister took the bag to the room, she added that l even went to the room and open the bag and l saw kaba and slits and l closed the bag and left the room of her sister," Madam Gloria Donutsor reaffirmed.
She indicated that she told her sister that if she is coming to her then she can bring the bag to her at her house.
According to Madam Gloria Donutsor, her sister couldn't bring the bag because she complained of not feeling well but her son, Kafui came to her in the evening so my sister asked him to bring the bag to me at my house."
She narrated that it was in the following morning that I have been hearing rumours that they said the bag that l asked my sister Hellen Donutsor to pick for me contained pieces of the brand new clothes that they said were missing or they are looking for. "
"And actually l said that it is not true because the bag my sister picked for me, there are no new clothes in the bag as they have claimed.
"But my accusers never believed what l am saying because they have hated me on the camp and they have started spreading my name in Mepe township that l have stolen relief items but they never mustered courage to find out from me before they have gone in the town spreadinng their fake and cooked stories.
"...So when l heard the misinformation peddling by her accusers, l walked on the Chairman of the Association, Mr Desi and asked that l have heard that you people were spreading the news in the town and Kizito campus that l am the one who took the bag containing the new clothes.
"And that Mr Dusi responded by asking her that who tells me that l have been spreading false allegations against you. And Mr Dusi didn't answer me again. I have confronted one of women over the allegations levelled against me but she also never answered me," Madam Gloria Donutsor explained.
'So Sunday November 19, 2023, Mr Dusi and his and committee members called a meeting and they invited me and l came. They pretended like they never accused me of stealing the missing clothes. They never talked about the missing clothes in the said meeting and l raised my hands and l talked about the missing clothes. But they told me that they didn't bring that issue here. But if l brought the issue they have to explain to me on how the whole things went about.
"I asked them in the meeting that the bag that they were saying the Apostle Revelation Society (ARS) Church brought containing the pieces of clothes what at are the things written on the bag? Because the bag l received,it proves that nothing is written on the bag. When l open the bag, there are no new clothes inside the bag. I brought what was written on the bag which was in her custody for them to see at the meeting," she further narrated.
According to her, Mr Dusi and his followers have not proven to her that the bag they were claiming to have contained the new clothes donated by the ARS Church.
In short l am telling the general public that all the allegations levelled against me by my destructors are not true, these critics saying just hate me on the camp of the Kizito campus because they have some misunderstanding with me in the distribution of items brought by the Volta River Authority in her watch they had shared to some food victims living in one of the communities in Mr Kwami Alorvi residence in Mepe.
She further denied of stealing seven (7) out of eighty-three (83? pieces of student mattresses brought to the victims by the VRA, saying that as l am even speaking to you today, l have been sleeping on the mat on the floor in my house here in the camp of Kizito campus."
She maintained that the seven pieces of students mattresses that they had accused her of stealing were being reserved for some flood victims based on the advises offered to him  by the donors who brought the items.
The NADMO representative vividly briefed the journalist on the scenario surrounding the whole distribution of the seven mattresses she was asked to reserve for some major flood victims.
According to Madam Gloria Donutsor, even the mattresses she was asked to reserve for some people by the donors were removed from their packed place at the ICT department of the Mepe St Kizito Senior High Technical School to be given the major victims on the camp.
I am repeating that the allegations leveled again me is not true, it was just a cooked story and fake story to ostensibly to tarnish my image as well as eliminate me to pay ways for the members of the Association to do what are not expected to do in the distributions of the items to the victims.

"There are more witnesses on the camp of Kizito campus who can attest to the fact l have not stolen the bag of clothes, students mattresses and Kente clothes as were claimed by Mr Amanatey Dusi and his followers,"Madam Gloria Donutsor reaffirmed.

She noted that when there was a report of the missing bag containing the clothes, she partnered with the military personnel and Mr Dusi to look for the bag.

She expressed misgivings about the attitude of Mr Dusi to refuse to cross-check the issue from her personally but they went ahead to engage "my sister to find out from her about the items that l have asked her to collect on her behalf from the committee at the time that the committee was sharing the items to households.
