Resort To Use Of Compost Fertilisers —Director of Crops Urges Farmers

The Director of Crops at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), Dr. Solomon Gyan Ansah, has strongly advocated the use of locally produced organic compost.

This, he said, has become essential to help increase productivity within agricultural communities. Dr. Gyan Ansah made the remarks at a meeting of stakeholders in agriculture with the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriye Akoto, on Friday, November 5, 2022.

He thus called on farmers to patronize locally manufactured fertilizers to expand production.

"Our soils are getting acidic and we have to make sure we raise the standard of the soil and course cut down the high cost of doing business," he said.

He also intimated that when farmers use more compost, the production companies will expand their volume of production.

He reiterated the point that it is important to restore the soil from the excessive use of inorganic fertilizers.
