THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Honourable Francis Xavier Kojo Sosu was on Sunday March 24, 2024 demonstrated his gospel signing talents at churches within the Social Welfare South at Madina.

The MP displayed his gospel singing skills when he stormed seven (7) churches in Madina to educate the religious worshipers about the 24-hour economy idea being proposed by the flagbearer of the NDC, H.E. former President John Dramani Mahama.

The various churches the MP and his campaign team members attended within Social Welfare South in Madina are Church Of Pentecost, Central, EP Trinity, AME Zion Church Madina, The church of Christ.Weapon of Deliverance Fire Ministry, The Salvation Army Church and Assemblies of God, Berean Assembly.

At the Salvation Army Church in Madina, the astute lawyer was given the opportunity to address the congregation. 

However, when the MP mounted the church pulpit podium to begin his programme, he displayed his gospel signing skills, putting a smile on the face of the worshipers who had clapped for the MP.

Honourable Sosu has outlined the importance and feasibility of former President Mahama’s 24-hour economy proposal to the teeming worshippers in these aforementioned religious institutions, urging them to embrace the idea, stressing that 24-hour economy is key to Ghana’s economic expansion.

The MP further told the worshipers that the
 24-hour economy policy is designed to create new employment opportunities, particularly for young people, address unemployment, and enhance living standards in Ghana.

According to the MP,  their NDC flag bearer has told Ghanaians that his government will enact new laws to support businesses operating a 24 hour system in seven days (24/7), including labour laws and tax incentives. 

Additionally, he noted that the objective behind his proposed 24-hour economy initiative is to enable businesses to operate three shifts per day.

To achieve this goal, he noted that the next  government of the NDC and private sector will collaborate, encouraging the worshipers who would be voting in December Saturday 7, 2024 to vote massively for the former President Dramani Mahama to win presidential and him to win parliamentary elections.

"Comrades, friends, our men and women of God, l am urging you that it is a high time for all of us to throw our support behind our flag-bearer, the visionary Nation Builder, to rescue our beloved country in the December 2024 elections," the MP urged the worshippers.

To assist companies, the NDC MP assured the congregation that there will be favourable tax policies, stimulus packages and financial assistance available for specific industries including agro-processing and manufacturing.

According to him, the former President also said, "Buying local products and services will be his government's top priority, and measures will be implemented to ensure the smooth operation of the 24-hour economy."

Sounding religious, the MP stressed the need for the worshipers who are eligible voters to consider of voting massively for former President to win the political power, saying that Mr Mahama is a man of righteousness, trust wealthy and truthful.

Honourable Sosu indicated that looking at the current severe economy crisis situation facing  Ghanaian under the political leadership of the NPP led by President Nana Addo Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo/Bawumia, it shows that only a person who is righteous, trust wealthy and truthful like former President Dramani Dramani has what it takes to rescue our beloved country."

The MP further outlined his good polices, agenda and strategies to the worshippers and briefed them about the various projects and programmes in the areas of education, road network, health, social welfare, water, security and sanitation, he has personally initiated to bring social and infrastructure developments to the constituency.

He stated that he has rolled out the Teachers Award Scheme and Scholarship Fund, adding that these initiatives are part of fulfillment of his campaign promises to “Accounting to the people of Madina.

The MP noted that as part of fulfilling his promise to promote jobs and skill acquisition in the Madina Constituency he started the Madina job center which has impacted about 7000 people within the constituency.

He added that through his Entrepreneurship Module, 50 students graduated with top notch skills high in demand in IT. This was implemented in Partnership with ZIMBA MEDIA

Students were taught Graphic Design, Motion Graphics and Presentation Skills over a period of 1 month. It was worth it as students showcased knowledge gained by designing logos and Motion Graphic videos of business ideas they came up with.

He detailed about his Madina Job Centre Projects established in November 2020 which has a long way to reduce poverty in the constituency by fostering decent jobs and socio-economic growth (SDG 1 & 8) as well as providing young people with applicable skills.

According to him, in its 2021 report, the Madina Job Center compiled a database of 5,128 job seekers, 4,026 of whom were found through its online job search site (www.madinajobcenter.com), and the rest via WhatsApp and Facebook community service platforms. A feasibility study revealed that Madina’s youth are in desperate need of skill development.

Madina Job Center has given work, skills training, and business development possibilities to up to 3,200 unemployed young people in its first year of operation through three modules currently administered by the Center, namely Job recruiting, Vocational Apprenticeship, and Entrepreneurship.

Of the total impacted lives, the detailed statistics of impact of Job Recruitment, Vocational Apprenticeship, and Entrepreneurship modules, respectively, is 69percent, 18percent, and 13percent.

The Madina Job Center’s mid-to-long-term mission, according to Francis-Xavier Sosu, is to construct a cutting-edge skill development center centered on youth empowerment.

Agriculture, human resource development, vocational training, manufacturing, and information technology were among the different sectors in which Madina Job Center made significant impact in 2021.

Sixteen community development projects were implemented across all three modules, including Women in Mushroom Farming, Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, Website and Mobile App Development, Digital Satellite Installation, Soap and Detergent Making, Dairy Production, and Career Counseling for WASS students, to name a few.

Youth in Fashion Design, Youth in Hairdressing, AC and Cold Store Installation and Repairs are among the current vocational apprenticeship programs, with more on the way.

   
To provide jobs, the Madina Job Center worked with 97 businesses in the constituency. Health (midwifery, nurses, and medicine counter assistant jobs), Education (nursery, primary, secondary, and private tutor jobs), Transportation (uber, company, and private driving jobs), Hospitality (restaurant managers, catering, home and shop keepers, and receptionist jobs), Biomedical Engineering jobs, Accounting, and marketing jobs were among the positions obtained. 

Micro businesses accounted for 58percent of recruiting partners, with small, medium, and large businesses accounting for 27percent, 13percent, and 2percent, respectively.

The Madina Job Center is here to stay, as part of a concerted commitment to improve human capability and contribute to Ghana’s socio-economic development. In 2022, the Member of Parliament’s office anticipates a stronger influence.

However, having listening to the campaign of the MP to ensure the smooth operation of the 24-hour economy, the teeming worshippers of these aforementioned churches in Madina have openly declared their unflinching support for the 24 Hours Economy and assured to vote massively for former President and Honourable Sosu in the 2024 general elections.
