Kidnapping cases in the Savannah Region is steadily increasing as another Fulani has fall victim to these purported criminals.

The Regional Police Command has launched investigations into yet another alleged kidnapping case involving Fulanis settlers on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Busunu in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah region.

The Police in their preliminary investigations into a four-year-old boy of a Fulani parent who lodged a complaint to the Police about the kidnap of their son strangely met a gang of alleged kidnappers and there was an exchange of gunshots leading to the killing of four (4) of the alleged kidnappers.

The Regional Police Command are in possession of the dead bodies and currently at the mortuary at the West Gonja Municipal Hospital, Damongo for autopsy and further investigation.

"The Police will continue the search for the 4year child who is in the grips of the alleged kidnappers," the statement said.

Background


On 30/6/2021 at about 1400hours, the Chief Linguist of Yagbonwura, Alhaji Afoli Losina on mobile phone No. 0243381371 accompanied by Gbanfuwura, Alhaji Abudu on mobile phone No. 0247588176 all of Damongo and the Busunu Fulani Chief, Alhaji Amidu Braimah of phone number 0246 509597, came to the Regional Crime Investigation Department (RCID) and the former reported that, at about 1100hours same day, one of his Children by name Osumanu Seidu age about four (4) years was kidnapped on 29/6/2021.

That a search party was organized to look for the kidnapped child and in the course of the search, the search party which was led by Adamu Amadu ran into a group of kidnappers in the bush. That the kidnappers started shooting at them and they also shot back killing four of them.

On receipt of the report, the Deputy Regional Police Commander, DCOP/Mr. Ebenezer Larbi, In charge Regional Crime officer Supt/Mr. Cletus K. Abadamlora, D/C/Inspr. S.S. Gbeve and D/Const. Isaac Frimpong in the company of the Complainant and four standby men on S/V No. GP 49 and GP No. 4784 driven by Inspector Bonney and No. 57169 G/Const. Frimpong Bismark respectively proceeded to the Scene of Crime in the bush, a distance of about four miles away from the Busunu township where four (4) bodies of male adults of Fulani extraction with ages between eighteen (8) and thirty-four were found dead in a pool of blood some lying in Prone and others in supine positions.

Each of them was found wearing a pair of black trousers and a black T-shirt. On inspection, all four (4) bodies were found with multiple gunshot wounds. One Adamu Amadu who sustained gunshot wounds on the left arm was rushed to the Busunu Health Center where he was treated and discharged.

The scene as well as the bodies have been photographed.

A pair of white–blue rubber shoe, a pair of sandals and a pair of comboo, and four empty BB cartridges were found at the crime scene, and the same retained for investigations.

The four unknown bodies have been conveyed and deposited at the West Gonja District Hospital morgue for preservation, identification and autopsy.
