Stop indiscriminate construction on waterways-Director warns

Director of Universal Rehabilitation Centre in the Ahafo Kenyase No1 of the Ahafo Region, Mr. Emmanuel Addai, has appealed to Ghanaians to desist from building on waterways to avoid the perennial flooding with the slightest downpour.

He advised persons living in low-lying areas to voluntarily move to uplands and stop the indiscriminate dumping of refuse which eventually chock gutters causing flooding.

Mr. Addai, therefore, called on the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Town and Country Planning Department, MMDCES, and the Environmental Health and Sanitation department to be proactive to immediately stop the unpatriotic and destructive activities of such estate developers, Chiefs and so-called Land Owners who have been polluting the water bodies and also acquire a building permit

Such lawlessness acts create problems during the rainy season, She said.
