Sunyani drivers to demonstrate over deplorable station

Drivers at the main taxi station in Sunyani have served notice that it would stage a massive demonstration over the deplorable nature of their station.

Speaking to Soiree News the drivers said, the station has been engulfed whenever it rains. They added that several potholes that are filled with water when it rains have made the plying of their taxis at the station very difficult.

They wondered why the Assembly authorities have failed to heed their plights despite the continued efforts to get the place fixed.

“Sunyani was the cleanest city in the country but it has now become the dirtiest city. We pay Council tickets all the time so what is preventing them from fixing this place. People drop their feces at the station.

We have to hire people to clean the station every morning before we start work. It appears the management of the city has gotten out of the hands of the authorities”, some of the drivers opined angrily.

“We are appealing to the security services not to prevent us from demonstrating, we won’t pay Assembly toll for three months. The authorities cannot tell us that they aren’t aware of the poor nature of the station.

The secretary of the Dumasua local drivers at the main taxi station, J. O. Mensah said, the drivers contributed to the tune of GHC8000 when the station was in the same deplorable state some time ago to revamp the place.

He called on the city authorities not to neglect the station but ensure it is fixed to a standard one.
