UEFA CL Update: Origi ruled out as Robertson remains a doubt for Liverpool ahead of tonight's Napoli clash
Mohamed Salah scored the only goal at Anfield last season

The Champions, Liverpool FC will play Napoli today at the Stadio San Paolo in the opening fixture of the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool lost to Napoli in the group stage of last year’s Champions League at the Stadio San Paolo after Lorenzo Insigne's 90-minute goal. Mohamed Salah gave the Reds hope through his 34-minute strike at Anfield which ensured that Klopp's side qualified with Paris St. Germain into the knockout stage.

Carlo Ancellotti reported no new injury concern during his pre match press conference on Monday as his forward Arkaiusz Milik is yet to feature this season due to groin injury.

According to Napoli's manager, Liverpool have acquired the needed belief it takes to put games to bed after winning the competition last season. Although he made known that Napoli has improved too, yet he refused to rule out how intensed the gmae will be.

“We mustn’t alter the way we play, regardless of the team I pick. Of course, you have to keep the opposition in mind and the defensive side is very important but if you want to win matches you have to impose your game by playing to the strengths of your players.

“Liverpool have improved because winning the Champions League gives you belief. Napoli have improved too, though, and we’ve bolstered our squad with the addition of some quality players. I think it will be a great game – hard fought and intense.”

Origi did not travel with Liverpool after sustaining an injury against Newcastle last Saturday. Although Andrew Robertson was part of the 20-man travelling squad, yet he will need a last minute assessment to decide whether he will feature in the Group E game or not.

“Robbo didn’t train today and we have to see,” Jürgen Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com on Monday.

“It is not a major thing, it was more precautionary today, but it is not 100 per cent sure [he will be available]. We will have to test it tomorrow and then we will see.”
