Meek Mill, an American rapper, has apologized after causing controversy in Ghana with a music video that was shot in Jubilee House, the nation's presidential palace.

People were outraged, according to local media, about Meek Mill's alleged "desecration" of the president and the security concerns around the shooting of a music video in such a prominent location.

According to the news website GhanaWeb, the footage was purportedly originally shared on Meek Mill's Instagram account on Sunday.

The rapper apologized to Ghanaians and the president via Twitter on Monday.

"My apologies to the folks if there was any disrespect," he stated. I also apologize to the office.

"We're going to continue to work to establish a link between black people in America and Africa...

He said: "My apologies to the people if any disrespect... My apologies to the office also."

The Black Star Line Festival, which featured well-known performers like Chance the Rapper, T-Pain, and Erykah Badu, was held in Ghana last week, and several American celebrities have been there over the past few days.
