Osagyefo has revealed that the occurrences that surrounded last year's general elections motivated him to release his new track, Freedom.

The artiste said this in an interview on YFM’s Reggae Republic by host, Haruna Babangida.

He mentioned that he drew his inspiration from different countries with all the political sagas happening around.

Like the reported cases of police shooting during the just-ended elections and the SARS situation that came up in Nigeria.

“Freedom was a song that I made some time ago. I did it specifically because of the Nigerian EndSARS protest”, he said.

“somewhere along the line, when we had the elections and the police and soldiers shot people, I realized that this is similar to the Nigerian issue but because Ghana’s issue was more current, I decided to focus on that but I blended the two”,

According to him, nothing like what was reported has ever happened in the history of Ghana.

He admitted that there was a need for non-political people, that is, musicians like himself, to speak about the issue, thus, his decision to release the song.

Freedom is a song that talks about keeping peace in Ghana, Nigeria and Africa as a whole by allowing citizens equal right and justice. In the song, he calls on politicians to respect democracy in their countries to ensure that there is oneness in Africa.

Osagyefo further went on to accuse media houses in Ghana for not playing his songs.

He noted that most media houses consider him as not credible enough for his songs to be played on their platforms because of the significant issues he raises.

“My songs are not the popular opinion kind of songs because people in Ghana like it when you sing loosely. In that case, you don’t really sing about anything. It’s like being a comedian that’s what they want”.

"but for me Osagyefo, that is my lane and that is what I am interested in. So when listening to them I am proud especially when the beat and everything is clear,” he said.
