A virgin as a tool in bringing about Christmas - Reverend Kobena Appiah

The Superintendent Minister of Wenchi Circuit and also Synod Secretary of the Methodist Church Ghana Wenchi Diocese Reverend Kobena Appiah is calling on all to use this Christmas season to glorify the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords that love us enough to come to this deplorable world for our redemption.

Reverend Kobena Appiah made the call in a sermon on the festival of nine lessons and carols held by the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School on Sunday December 11,2022.

" I have observed for some time now that the devil uses the Christmas period for immorality, instead of them reflect on how God used a virgin as a bridge to bring about Christmas to us they are using the period to dis - virgin many virgins."

As we reflect on the virgin birth that should motivate us into living as virgins in this corrupt generation, forgetting the message of holiness at Christmas is to forget the essence of the coming of the Lord Jesus into the world he said.

Reverend Kobena Appiah explained that the Bible that we used at Christmas is holy Bible, the Holy Spirit we have is the Holy Spirit, Jesus is Holy, the father is holy, the angels are also holy and undermined holiness at Christmas is to demean the spirit of Christmas and mock the one that brought redemption to us.

Heaven is still looking for virgins to save the world from destruction but the devil is using non- virgin people to bring destruction to this generation Reverend Kobena Appiah emphasized.

The Superintendent Minister noted that the world is nearly divided into moral and immoral people, virgins and those that are not virgins.

He therefore called on all to use this Christmas season to glorify the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords that love us enough to come to this deplorable world for our redemption.

On his part the Head Master of the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School Very Reverend Ampofo Twuamsi added that Christmas is a season of love, a celebration of sacrificing what we have to show appreciation to those who mean the most.

He again said Christmas is about reconciliation, forgiveness and merry giving.

Very Reverend Ampofo Twuamsi noted that a baby was born to offer forgiveness to those who need it most, in the same way the season creates opportunity to offer forgiveness and reconciliation to those who need it most in our lives.

The festival of nine lessons and carols is a service of Christians worship celebrating the birth of Jesus that is traditionally followed at Christmas. The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hyms and choir music.

To drum home the message of the season, a drama enacted by the students depicted how Mary a humble ordinary person was used by God to bring the Saviour into the world.
