Former Municipal Chief Executive for Suhum Municipality, Margaret Ansei aka Magoo has touted electorates of Assin North for choosing the NDC candidate over that of the NPP.

Speaking in an interview on the Ama Ghana Morning Show on Time FM monitored by Soireenews.com, she said they have shown Akufo-Addo that he cannot take Ghanaians for a ride.

She said if Gyakye Quason were in Parliament, there wouldn’t have been the passage of the e-levy bill and the three draconian taxes imposed by the IMF,” she revealed while lamenting the economic hardship.

According to the former Suhum MCE, the victory is for Ghana and freedom fighters. James Gyakye Quayson, the NDC parliamentary candidate emerged victorious in Tuesday’s by-election with an impressive 57.56% while his NPP contender, Charles Opoku had 42.0%.

At the end of the by-election on June 27, 2023, Mr. Quayson polled 17,245 votes representing 57.56 percent of the total votes cast to beat Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG). Charles Opoku polled 12,630 votes representing 42.15% percent of the total votes cast while the LPG’s Bernice Enyonam Sefenu polled a paltry 87 votes (0.29%).
