Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai MCE Touts Achievements To School Propagandists

MUNICIPAL Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai municipality of the Western North Region, Mr Paul Andoh, has outlined some
major achievements and developmental projects ongoing in the municipality since he took over office in May 2023.
Mr Andoh who was appointed by President Akufo Addo after the demise of the former MCE, Mr. Alfred Amoah in a ghastly accident at Apedwa near Tafo in the Eastern Region on July 12, 2022.
The MCE for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Mr Alfred Amoah has been confirmed as a new MCE by Assembly Members on May 4, 2023.
He said, his vision is to facilitate the improvement of quality of life of the residents within its jurisdiction through equitable provision of services.
According to the MCE, he represents the heart and soul of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai people with the focus of binding the people together to live in peace and unity with one another.
He touched on all sectors of the economy including health, education, agriculture, roads, security and general infrastructure with the NPP Member of Parliament being central in the realization of the development needs of the area.
The MCE listed the many health centres, local economy development, schools, libraries, road constructions and job opportunities executed by the Assembly as among the development projects that continue to drive in investment.
He mentioned that the Assembly has taken several steps to tackle the drain systems in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai municipality.
He also provided a video documentary which has indicated the ongoing construction of a drainage system through Jona some and that this initiative would help to improve the free flow of water in the municipality when it is a heavy down pour.
Additionally, Mr. Andoh who is nicknamed in the municipality as a results driven MCE spoke widely about his remarkable effort to resolve the impasse between the mining workers in Bibiani and their employers, the Mensin Gold Ltd a subsidiary of Asante Gold Corporation.
He also narrated how he personally played a leading roles to encourage a total of a thirty-eight (38) members of the NDC from Attakrom in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency to defect to the NPP.
He stated that his outfit has started a big bridge from the Ahodzo and California areas in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai municipality, mentioning that his outfit has commissioned the altramodern CHIPS compound at Bekwai Surano to promote the primary healthcare delivery system.
The MCE disclosed this in an interview with Soireenews.com on Friday February 23, 2024 to outline their various ongoing projects and achievements in the municipality.
He also gave an up to speed account of his stewardship and that of the Member of Parliament (MP) in the area, Honourable Alfred Obeng-Boateng in an exclusive interview with this news outlet.
Mr Andoh was responding to accusation by concerned residents, opinion and traditional leaders in the municipality who asserted that municipality has become pitiful due to the wobbling state of the local economy.
In that viral media reports, the residents pointed out that the poor leadership of Honourable Obeng-Boateng, Mr Paul Andoh and Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area who doubles as the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II has plunged the municipality into total crisis and nothing seems to be going well in the area.
The residents, predominantly farmers, youths traders and members of the NDC in the area lamented that Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai was also retrogressing in social and infrastructure development under the current MCE, MP and the paramount chief.
In their view, the MCE who represents President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo could have continued the developmental projects started by his predecessor and the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC), but abandoned them due to political reasons.
They indicated that “People thought there was development and prosperity here, and now we have lost everything. The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai municipality is pitiful, the people in the area are facing severe hardships, and the economy is bad.”
"We thought the current MCE and MP would continue the good work the previous government left behind, but the municipality seems to be retrogressing in development,” the residents accused.
According to them, the constituency lacks development in health, sanitation, hygiene, water, education, roads and many areas whereas the current MP and MCE are only thinking of how to influence the eligible voters to vote massively for the NPP and MP to win the 2024 general elections.
The residents lamented how “Sehwi Bekwai have no public toilet, the state of their clinic is an eyesore.”
“Bibiani Government Hospital and the Maternity Ward lacks beds, nursing mothers are lying bare on the floor. If you are the Member of Parliament and MCE of this constituency and you are not sensitive about the plight of the people and then you are only thinking about winning an election, but wining an election is a means to an end,” they noted.
But in a quick rebuttal, the MCE flatly denied all the allegations leveled against him in the said media viral reports, describing the allegations and accusations as mischief and propaganda, calling on the general public to disregard the claim of those residents.
Mr Andoh mentioned key achievements the Assembly has chalked so far, adding that his outfit is pursuing the vision of the Assembly to be an efficient and effective with continuous enhancement of the living standards of its people.
"Knowing well how our people always making all forms of allegations to win massive attention of all wards people. Please, l think President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo A has received all these orchestrations and malicious statements and had not been considered.
According to the MCE, the accusers are very people who always need attention and stampede on progression.
"At times, l must be focused on good things we are doing to the people in the municipality," he said.
According to him, the good people in the municipality will attest to the fact most of their accusations and allegations are below belts.
He pointed out that in terms of sanitation, roads, water, health, education and many other infrastructures mentioned in their write-up are fully provided and a lot are still ongoing in the municipality.
The MCE argued that those self-seeking residents, referring to the supporters and members in the area always want to frustrate the system and their voices will be heard since they lost many elections they contested.
"Please, I think is a time to concentrate on good and quality improvement we are doing then given them attention," he stressed.
Following this development, the MCE touched on areas like agriculture, infrastructure development, local economic development, roads, security, justice system, health, sanitation, education, street naming and property addresses system, social inclusiveness and vulnerability, LEAP and other relevant ongoing projects.
He provided a video documentary evidence which shows how he cuts a sod for the construction of the Astroturf complex in the area to promote sporting activities.
Touching on agriculture, the MCE said since agriculture contributes immensely to the national GDP and also creates employment, the assembly is promoting Urban/Peri-Urban agriculture due to limited land space in the municipality.
He, however, said, many farmers in the municipality have benefitted from various training programmes and technical activities through visits to the homes and their farms including the introduction of backyard fish farming, livestock, vegetable and Aquaponics.
According to the Bibiani MCE, several infrastructure projects are under review which includes the constructions of ultra-mordern classroom blocks, constructions of the roads, constructions of bridges among others
In the area of sanitation, he indicated that the Assembly has engaged with some waste collection companies to provide services to residents in the municipality adding, “we will continue to co-ordinate, monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of their performance.,”
In addition, he said, the assembly has mounted some containers at vantage places like the markets, accessible and low income communities to enable residents dispose of garbages that is more acceptable and better to the environment
” the assembly continues to educate residents on its sanitation bye-laws and also undertake regular inspection of the communities for enforcement,” he added.
According to him, the assembly has seen a significant surge of development in the education sector to ensure accessibility and quality across the municipality.
He indicated that several projects are ongoing under the education unit including provision for desks and furnitures.
He said the assembly has improved the security system in the municipality through the installation of street lights, repairs, property naming and street addressing and improved cordial relationships between the assembly and residents.
” The Assembly utilises the residents/ landlords Association platforms to educate the public on personal security and also foster a cordial relationship with residents,” he added.
The MCE assured residents that the Assembly would continue to roll out infrastructure and human centered development programmes to improve the living standards of the people and also ensure the realisation of vision in the municipality.
