Burkina Faso's military has confirmed that 11 troops were killed in an attack on its facility in Madjoari, in the country's east, on Thursday.

No one has claimed responsibility for the incident as of yet.

It exhorted all forces to have a combat-ready mindset to destroy the adversary.

Col Paul-Henri Damiba, who deposed President Roch Kaboré in a coup on January 24, has promised to put the security situation first by enlisting more troops.

He's also tried to set up local groups to start talks with militants.

Since 2015, Burkina Faso has been fighting an Islamist insurgency in the north.
