Due to his "no show" at the JamRok Easter event, Mr. Drew sued

The 'Easter Dance Party with Mr. Drew' event, which was scheduled for Monday, April 1, 2024 at Asuogyaman, has been sued by JamRok Bar and Event Centre for the failure of Ghanaian singer Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, also known as Mr. Drew, to perform.

Despite receiving half of the performance money in advance of the show, Mr. Drew reportedly withdrew from the event, according to the organizers.

"Everything was set for the event to take place but the artiste, Mr. Drew, pulled out of the event when he was to mount the stage without any reason or explanation to the organizers," the management of Jamrok had previously stated in a press release dated April 2, 2024.

According to the statement, Mr. Drew recorded a video of himself attesting to his attendance at the event after receiving his cash. "On the day of the event, Mr. Drew and three other team members arrived at his hotel at approximately 3 p.m.

He was told to unwind and prepare for the evening's festivities. The other performers on the schedule had all reached their lodgings and were ready to go.

Approximately 12:30 am, the organizers attempted to contact the artist to arrange a performance, but they received no answer from his team. Consequently, they proceeded to the hotel and discovered that the artists were sound asleep.

Mr. Drew and his group eventually left the hotel after some time, and they were sitting in their vehicle and drove off."

They claim that after following up, they discovered that Mr. Drew had left the event for which he had been paid, driving past the event grounds and returning to Accra.

JamRock Bar and Event Center is requesting GH₵15,000.00 in recovery, which is money the plaintiff paid to Mr. Drew to perform at the event but failed to do so, and the refund of the money annulled since February 12, 2024, in a writ of summons issued by the District Magistrate Court - Senchi on April 15, 2024.

Additionally, it requests an order for the recovery of general damages against the defendants for the serious harm the cancellation of the event caused to the plaintiff's brand, and special damages in the amount of GH₵36,511.00, which represent direct costs incurred by the plaintiff in connection with the event.
