Government is poised to end malaria but failure to sleep under mosquito net hindering same-Ahafo RHD

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has indicated that government is poised to improve measures to fight malaria in the Ahafo Region. According to the Ghana Health Service, though the COVID-19 pandemic has been given much attention, but the National Malaria Control Programme is also in full force to reduce cases.

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has indicated that government is poised to improve measures to fight malaria in the Ahafo Region.

According to the Ghana Health Service, though the COVID-19 pandemic has been given much attention, but the National Malaria Control Programme is also in full force to reduce cases.

The Ahafo Regional Coordinator of Malaria Control Program, Mr. Kingsley  Authur in an interview with Soiree News said  , Ahafo region have recorded over 37,025 malaria cases out of 344,772 OPD cases reported in health facilities in 2021.

This he said calls for  the need to intensify its effort to combat malaria in the region.

Mr. Kingsley Authur said, " though the Government through Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Services been distributing free Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Nets (LLINs)  in  every three years,  beneficiaries opt not to sleep under the net.

This he said a.  Major challenge which requires the Ghana Health Service (GHS) need to intensify it public education at all the health facilities in the region on the need to sleep under mosquitoes net.
