Joyce Bawah criticises Akufo-Addo’s ‘abuse’ of presidential power and discretion to appoint judges.

The Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has criticised President Akufo-Addo's recent appointments to the Appeals Court, alleging an abuse of power and discretion contrary to outlined provisions in the 1992 Constitution.

Madam Mogtari expressed concern over President Akufo-Addo's latest appointment of over 20 Appeals Court Judges, which brings the total number of Appeals Court Judges in the country to 51.

She voiced apprehension that a significant portion of these judges may not have sufficient cases to preside over.

Referencing Ghana's case in comparison to Nigeria, where she noted they have 35 judges, she argued that President Akufo-Addo's actions constitute an abuse of discretionary power.

In a post on Monday, April 8, Madam Mogtari underscored her concerns about the situation.

"How can any individual leader, as in Akufo-Addo appoint twenty-one (21) additional Court of Appeal judges, bringing the total number of Court of Appeal Judges in Ghana to fifty-one (51). Most of these judges may have absolutely nothing to do. This constitutes an abuse of presidential power and discretion."

"Even in neighbouring Nigeria, they have thirty five (35) Court of Appeal Judges, five judges for each district. How can Ghana have fifty one (51) Court of Appeal justices?," he quizzed.

President Akufo-Addo has nominated eight lawyers, including Dr. Poku Adusei, for the Court of Appeal, as part of a list of 20 names unveiled.

If approved by Parliament, these nominations would mark the largest influx of judges appointed to the Court at any given period, bringing the total number of Court of Appeal judges to 51.

This surge in appointments is the issue Madam Mogtari is raising concerns over and those are genuine concerns every logical thinking person will agree with.

After all, if the whole of the United States of America has less than ten (10) Supreme Court justices, High courts and Appeal courts judges, why must Ghana have such a huge number of judges and still appointing more in the public sector they claim is chocked?

Why did they sack the SSNIT boss and replacing him with the sons of Yaw Osafo Marfo who is himself corrupt and who was surcharged for authorising payment of taxpayers money to KROLL And Associates for no work done which led to the unconstitutional dismissal of the former Auditor General, MR Yaw Domelevo?

To be honest and sincere, if the democracy of Ghana will triumph or spoil, it will surely come from the TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE the Supreme Court and other courts of Ghana are unleashing on the people of Ghana. They don’t have the patriotism of the country at heart and they don’t seem to care whatever happens to the nation and Ghanaians, so long as they have their cuts.

The bogus ruling on birth certificates and the travesty of justice unleashed on the Assin North MP, honourable James Gyakye Quayson. The Chief Justice, running away from a petition minority filed against the electoral commission of Ghana, on the limited Registration Exercise arrogantly imposed on Ghanaians by the electoral commission also - REFERS.

The Caucus For Mature Democrats (CMD) are very LIVID that, the judiciary, the national security, Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), and the npp PARKED Police Service as alluded by a COP in the instigation of the OUSTING of the IGP, George Akuffo Dampare are all indications that, Ghana is headed for DOOM and the Caucus will never mince words in pointing out the unfortunate and deliberate attempts by the president akufo addo led npp government to destroy our democracy and peace we all enjoy today.

We must also put on record that some of us are very LIVID, ready and willing to put our lives on the line in defence of our constitution, democracy and peace we are enjoying today, to stop the attempts to destroy our democracy and peace. We won’t allow the criminal few in government to destroy our country because of concealing their corruption, looting and greed.

The Caucus urges and enjoins all retired servicemen and servicewomen to speak out and be LIVID, especially those with Peacekeeping experience to stand up, talk the truth and be counted. Experience is not meant to be redundant and useless but must be shared to prevent Civil Unrest or Civil Strife.

Sharing our experiences will prevent Ghana from falling prey to this POLITICAL TERMITES who collapsed the economy through their corrupt and criminal practices, mismanagement and misappropriations to destroy our country like Sierra Leon, Liberia and Ivory Coast.

Ghana deserves better and so we enjoin all retired service personnel to be LIVID. Thank you for reading
