Kwahu Ntomem Queen Mother Worried Over High Rate of Teenage Pregnancy.

She further stated that most of the contributing factors to the problem is relying on the doorsteps of most parents who have neglected their responsibilities of providing for the basic needs like food and clothing and other essential needs of their children.

The Queen Mother of Kwahu Ntomem in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region, Nana Pokuaa II has expressed worry over the high rate of teenage pregnancy in the area.

According to an observation by health officials, teenage pregnancy has been on the rise comparatively in the past four years in the Kwahu South Municipality.

An annual performance review in the Kwahu South Municipal confirmed that the situation at Kwahu Ntomem is disturbing, the only community that is in rising of teenage pregnancy, she said.

Nana Pokua II emphasized that the situation of teenage pregnancy at Ntomem is very alarming and she remarked that they are doing everything possible to find solutions to the problem leading to the cause of teenage pregnancy among the girls in the town.

She further stated that most of the contributing factors to the problem rely on the doorsteps of most parents who have neglected their responsibilities of providing for the basic needs like food and clothing and other essential needs of their children.

Adding that, the girls therefore now resort to getting these needs from outsiders who end up deceiving the teenagers with gifts and effectually impregnating them which is the result of teenage pregnancy.

Nanahemaa, therefore, advises parents especially, women to start meeting their children's needs above all other priorities like buying funeral clothes and paying funerals dues at the expense of spending on their children's needs.
