Let's not play jokes with the galamsey fight - Methodist Bishop to authorities
Right Reverend Christopher Nyarko Andam, Methodist Bishop

Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church, Kumasi  Diocese, Right Reverend Christopher Nyarko Andam has made a humble appeal to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo and other stakeholders to make sure the fight against illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana is not tempered with.

According to the man of God saddened by the rate at which Ghana's water resources and lands are being destroyed by these illegal activities, it's high time leadership put leniency aside and go hard on illegal miners irrespective of their affiliation or class.

The President as part of his commitment level to fighting the galamsey menace has ordered all miners to put a freeze on activities such as land prospecting, forest mining etc. He also ordered all illegal miners to immediately stop their activities as all qualified miners have been ordered to reclaim lands after mining.

The man of God commenting on the development said it's high time Ghanaians show seriousness on the fight against illegal mining before things get escalated.
"Now most of our water bodies have been poisoned killing many fishes due to galamsey. The Church is solidly behind the government, let us arrest and deal with defaulters."

The man of God, therefore, advised Ghanaians to obey the simple orders where he also seized the opportunity to advise Ghanaians to get themselves involved in the upcoming census exercise since it's very important for developmental planning.

Bishop Andam spoke during a 60th annual Synod Program organized by the Methodist Church, Kumasi diocese.

He explained the Synod by indicating that it's an annual program organized by the Church, comprising members from the various Circuits.

According to him, the Synod program is organized so that the Church will know whether the Church is moving forward or backwards. They also use it to account for the Church's activities.

The man of God also finally commended Prez Akuffo Addo for his magnificent measures put in place in the fight against the pandemic.

He advised Ghanaians not to relent on obeying the laid down protocols since the disease is still in existence.
