Let's protect our river bodies as a country- chief advices  

The Chiefs and people of Sunyani Asufufu in the Sunyani East Municipal of the Bono Region led by, Nana Kumi Gyeabour (Asufufuhene) together with the residents of Asufufu have embarked on a clean-up exercise at the Asufufu River calling on Ghanaians as matter of urgency to protect our river bodies.

The Chief and people of Asufufu in the Sunyani East Municipality of the Bono Region have called for collective efforts in protecting river bodies in the country.

They made the call when Nana Kumi Gyeabour (Asufufuhene) together with the residents of Asufufu embarked on a clean-up exercise at the Asufufu River.

The chief in an engagement with the media called on Ghanaians as matter of urgency makes it a priority to protect the river bodies.

The clean-up exercise according to the chief was aimed at making the Asufufu River as white as its name replicates,  to be clean and safe for drinking.

The exercise saw dignitaries like Nana Kumi Gyeabour, Asufufuhene, Nana Abena Agyeiwaa Asufufu Hemaa, Nana Yeboah Asiamah Asufufu Krontehene, and the sub-chiefs, Queen Mothers, Elders, and the entire residents in the community.

In the course of the exercise, Nana Kumi Gyeabour made an appeal to all and sundry by calling for support from individuals to assist the traditional are acquire working tools such as cutlasses, hoes, shovels, wheelbarrows, amongst others to support the project. 

The participants of the exercise desilted the choked e river and cleared all weeds surrounding it.

According to Nana Kumi Gyeabour, it is very necessary to have residents, especially youths not to make sure their environment is always clean.
