Diego Llorente first Premier League goal cancelled out Sadio Mane’s opener at Elland Road to deny the Reds from going into the top four.

Mohamed Salah, started from the bench as Diogo Jota was opted to start. Fabinho slotted back in at centre-back alongside Ozan Kabak and Thiago was given a start in midfield.

Raphinha was ruled out with the thigh injury he sustained in the win over Manchester City as Jack Harrison did return after being ineligible for the City game for Marcelo Bielsa’s men.

The Reds Liverpool look a massive threat in behind in the opening of the first half as Mane, Firmino and Jota made the same type of run to put Leeds under pressure.

Leeds almost opened the scores in the 23-minute when Fabinho played a terrible ball straight to Phillips and he threaded Bamford in behind. He had the legs on Kabak but his touch allowed Alisson out and the goalkeeper managed to make a brave block.

Eight minutes later, Mane scored the Reds goal, ending his longest run without a goal in a Liverpool shirt.

Jota picked out Alexander-Arnold over the top down the right and the full-back showed incredible pace to get there ahead of Meslier. He prodded one across the box for Mane slotted the ball in the post.

Jota failed to loop a ball supplied by Alexander Arnold over the goalkeeper to give the Reds a two-goal lead.

The second half was intense as Leeds kept attacking the Reds in their half for the equalizer but Liverpool hit them on the counter which proved more dangerous for the hosts.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side kept knocking on the door and were nearly rewarded with a goal but Alisson’s big save kept the Reds in the game.

Leeds equalized through a corner kick after Oxlade Chamberlain missed a good chance to double the Reds lead.  An inswinger from the right by Harrison towards Llorente to nod in from close range gave the hosts the goal they needed.

They stay sixth and Leeds stay tenth.
