Mr Anthony Okyere, 42, also known as Elder Anthony has allegedly murdered his 9-year-old son at Nobekwa near Kukuom in the Asunafo South District of Ahafo Region Region.

The Taxi Driver after the murder dumped the Primary 3 pupil's body in the Tano River.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lawrence Adombire, Kukuom District Police Commander, confirmed the incident in an interview with Soireenews at Kukuom casting it as disheartening and shocking.

“This is barbaric and inhuman so Anthony Okyere is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.”

Resident in the area, who spoke to the Soireenews testified how Mr Anthony loved his son dearly and no one could fathom why he would such.

“Mr Anthony was seen with his son on motor  Monday Evening, he was seen with the boy buying food for him.”

The mother of the boy and other family members declined to speak with Soireenews as they were visibly in shock, grieving over the tragedy.

Meanwhile, some residents appealed to the police not to hasten to attribute the cause to insanity and thus release the suspect, but thoroughly investigate the matter to rule out any connections.

They said undermining the rule of law in the investigation would endanger the lives of other citizens.
