A security analyst,  Mr. Samuel Nana Appiah Owusu has called on the National Media Commission (NMC) for the stern regulation of the contents and programs of the media, notably TV stations to curb the menace of money rituals that have become rampant in the country.

Mr. Samuel Nana Appiah Owusu, Chief Executive Officer of Global Intelligence and Security Analysis Center (GISAC) made the call following the arrest of two teenagers, aged 18 and 19, at Kasoa in the Central region for allegedly killing a 10-year-old boy for money rituals at the weekend at the Lamptey Mills area at Kasoa in the Senya East Municipality.

Speaking to SN24 News, Mr. Owusu, said contents and programs on television have contributed to the situation as they are not well regulated.

He urged the relevant and responsible authorities to adopt stringent measures that would get rid of such contents for sanity to prevail, adding the youth’s easy access to smartphones has also played a role in such incidents.

The government and the general public need to intensify education against money rituals in the country, he added.
