NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency, Honourable Bismark Tetteh Nyarko has inspected work on a bridge across a stream which had hitherto rendered the road impassable during the rainy season.
Akotue is a farming and fishing community that brings their catch and farm produce to the Asesewa market and adds to the revenue of the District Assembly.
According to members of the community, their leaders met with the DCE, Hon Joe Sam severally to come over to profess solutions but to no avail.
The Assembly brought a contractor who levied them GH¢ 1700.00 per household for the construction of the bridge.
The community leaders then sought the assistance of the MP. Within weeks, the MP mobilized resources and works began.
Honourable Nyarko with some Constituency Executive Members today inspected the project.
According to a community leader, the bridge is a great relief to them and appreciated the assistance of the MP.
"We have named the bridge 'GH¢ 1700.00' to remind us of the scam the District Assembly under the NPP had tried to visit on us.
