In the heart of Paris, a shooter opened fire, leaving two dead and four injured.

The shooting happened next to a Kurdish cultural center and a hair salon, both of which are located near Gare de l'Est station.

Police swiftly apprehended a 69-year-old suspect in relation to the assault.

Authorities urged residents to stay away from the area in Strasbourg-Saint Denis's 10th district's Rue d'Enghien.

The shooting's purpose and intended victim are still unknown, despite rumors that the perpetrator is a French national who has a history of two attempted homicides.

One store owner told AFP news agency, "It's complete panic, we've shut ourselves in."

The witness reported hearing seven or eight gunshot bursts.

According to reports, two of the victims of the gunshot are in a critical condition, and two others were gravely hurt.

Police reportedly found the attack's weapon and captured the man without any resistance. Authorities declared that they had started a murder inquiry. Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, commended the police for their prompt action.
