Prince Tagoe, a former Hearts of Oak and Ghana striker, detained for a $40,00 Lexus fraud

Former Ghana and Hearts of Oak striker Prince Tagoe has been remanded in legal remand until January 4, 2023.

Tagoe is charged with defrauding George Antwi Boateng, a former Middlesborough player and current Black Stars assistant coach, of $40,000 by fraud.

Despite pleading not guilty, the former footballer was remanded to custody by the Circuit Court in Accra, which was presided over by His Honor Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah.

Tagoe's attorney, George Asamani, requested that the former football player be released on bail.

The prosecution's Chief Inspector Agartha Abena Asantewaa opposed the request, claiming that Tagoe presents a flight risk.

Tagoe allegedly made a commitment to the former Aston Villa player that he would import a Lexus 44. The parties involved paid $40,000 for the expense of shipping the automobile to Ghana.

Tagoe acknowledged receiving $40,000 from the complaint on January 8, 2021, into First Atlantic Bank Account No. 0016531332032.

The car has still not arrived in Ghana two years after the agreement, though. The athlete's next hearing isn't until January, but he's still being held without charge.
