The Saint Anselem’s Anglican school of the Anglican Cluster of schools in Sunyani has commissioned a modern toilet facility it received from its donors.

The project which cost GHC140, 000 is an eleven (11) Seater male and female toilet facility with handwashing facilities and a mechanized borehole.

Speaking to Ark News at the ceremony, the headteacher for the school, Nana Yaw Effah said the project was funded by American Field (AFS) with support from the Rotary club and some donors including the Anglican Church.

He said, the school consulted the donors and presented their plight to them when they were in dying need of a toilet facility as the deplorable state of the old edifice compelled them to demolish it.

A situation he said affected teaching and learning as teachers and students abandoned class to attend to nature's call in town.

On her part, the Sunyani Municipal Director of Education Mrs Theresah Kyereh commended the school for the initiative and charged them to maintain maintenance culture.

The Bono Regional Minister Justina Banahene who graced the occasion commended the school for the move saying it will go a long way to help the eradication of open defecation among school children.

She called on teachers to highly impact knowledge in the students to account for their successes in the future.
