Abraham celebrate his hat trick at the Molineux

Seven goals were recorded at the Molineux in Chelsea’s first Premier League win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Tammy Abraham secured a hat trick and an own goal was credited on his behalf with Jason Mount and F. Tomori also on target for the Blues.

Both managers made four changes from their last Premier League outings. Wolves left out Ryan Bennett, Wily Boly, Ruben Vinagre and Patrick Cutrone, for Jesus Vallejo, Diogo Jota, Jonny and Joao Moutinho.

Frank Lampard replaced Kurt Zouma, Emerson, Ross Barkley and Christian Pulisic with Antonio Rudiger, Marcos Alonso, Andreas Christensen and Willian.

Chelsea controlled the game in the opening minutes. They exchanged passes and looked to settle against a dodgy Wolves side. The home team threatened in the 6-minute. Traore with a ball on the right moved pass Alonso on the right flank to power a cross in the area. Dendoncker tried to get up to meet it but Rudiger cleared well before he could cause an issue.

Tomori scored the first goal for Chelsea in the 31-minute. A Chelsea’s corner was poorly cleared by Jonny to meet Tomori at the top of the area. He curled a sensational strike into the far corner.

Three minutes later, Tammy Abraham added a second. Tomori once again was part of the set up with Jason Mount. The Blue fans made a penalty appeal after Coady had an apparent contact with Mount in the area. The plea was denied by referee Graham Scott to let play continue. The bouncing ball fell for Abraham who took a touch and struck home on the turn.

Abraham scored his second and Chelsea’s third in the 41-minute. Vallejo initially cleared from inside the area but it landed to Alonso at the top of the left corner, he lifted his head, spotted Abraham in the middle, and curled ball into the area. The Lampard 'faithful' exhibited positional brilliance ahead of his marker, Coady and nodded the ball into the back of the net.

Abraham completed his hat trick in the early stage of the second half. Jorginho got away from Coady after a pressure was levied on him. Abraham was put into play and got away from his marker with a sensational skill. He hit the ball into the far corner for his hat trick and Chelsea’s forth.

The home team responded in the 69-minute and pulled a goal back. Tammy Abraham had Saiss header on Moutinho’s delivery graze his arm to cross the goal line.

Substitute, Cutrone having been superb since his introduction volleyed home Doherty’s thunderous effort palmed by Kepa towards him. VAR checked for a possible offside but the goal was later confirmed.

Jason Mount controlled Batsuayi’s no look pass down the left hand side. He set himself up and curled his effort around Vallejo to make it five for Chelsea.
