Residents have been advised to maintain proper hygiene, for it is the brain behind the increase of Typhoid fever cases in the Bono Region.

Typhoid fever cases in on the rise in the General ward of Sampa Government Hospital of Jaman North District of the Bono region.

Mr Frank Appiah in charge of the General ward has blamed the situation on poor hygiene.

Speaking on a Jaman North based Gye Nyame FM, Mr Frank Appiah said most cases being reported to the hospital for some time now has been enteric or typhoid fever with about 5 cases being recorded a day.

He said this approximately adds up to about 20 cases of typhoid fever recorded every month at the facility which he described as worrying.

He stressed that the district over the years has been recording most cases of Malaria fever, Gastritis, typhoid fever followed by HIV/AIDS.

Stating that Typhoid Fever is caused by dirt, Mr Frank Appiah advised that, Ghanaians and especially Jaman North residents must ensure proper hygienic conditions and maintain a better hygienic environment to facilitate good health.
